Knowledge sharing on the corresponding sizes of cup sizes ABCD

2025-07-02

1. Measurement basis for cup size

The cup size is determined by two measurements: lower chest circumference and upper chest circumference

  • Lower bust circumference: Use a soft tape to measure horizontally around the bottom of the breast, and the data obtained is based on the size of the bra base, such as 70cm, 75cm, 80cm, etc. (corresponding to international sizes 32, 34, 36).

  • Upper chest circumference: lean forward 45 degrees, use a soft tape to measure horizontally around the highest point of the nipple, and record the maximum value.

2. The specific correspondence between ABCD cup sizes

The cup size is determined by the difference between the upper and lower chest circumferences, and the range of difference for ABCD cup sizes is as follows:

Chest circumference difference (cm)Cup lettersExample (lower chest circumference 75cm)
7.5-10A

Upper chest circumference 82.5-85cm,corresponding 75A

10.5-13B

Upper chest circumference 85.5-88cm,corresponding 75B

13.5-16C

Upper chest circumference 88.5-91cm,corresponding 75C

16.5-19D

Upper chest circumference91.5-94cm,corresponding 75D

The complete bra size consists of a base circumference value and cup letters. For example, if the lower bust circumference is 80cm and the difference in bust circumference is 14cm (C cup), then the size is 80C (international size 36C).

3. Common Misconceptions and Precautions

  • Cup size ≠ chest size: Cup size only reflects the difference in chest circumference and does not represent the overall volume of the chest. For example, 70D (lower chest circumference 70cm) and 85B (lower chest circumference 85cm), the former has a larger cup size but the overall chest may be smaller than the latter.

  • The bottom circumference and cup size need to be matched simultaneously: a tight bottom circumference can compress the chest cavity, while a loose bottom circumference can easily cause displacement; A cup size that is too small can cause chest overflow, while a cup size that is too large can result in an empty cup. When trying on, make sure that the bra rim fits snugly around the chest and the shoulder straps do not stretch or slide down.

  • Measurement timing affects data: It is recommended to measure at a fixed time outside of the menstrual period each month to avoid errors caused by hormonal changes (such as breast swelling during menstruation).
